Wyethia glabra

"For Captain Nathaniel Wyeth"

"Leaves with few or no hairs"

This plant is in the sunflower family. The Native Americans used its seeds for food. The leaves of this plant do look very much like the ears of a mule. This is one of the largest flowers in the park with blooms as much as 4" across. A large plant grows on the far bank of Coyote Creek near the upper campground at Poverty Flat. Several others grow in Madrone Soda Springs Canyon.
