"Tuberous stem"

The plants of this genus are also called snake root because of the supposed healing properties for snake bite. The yellow sanicle or turkey pea or tuberous sanicle is one of the yellow sanicles. The small 1/4" flowers grow on a 3-4" stalk. Another sanicle, purple sanicle, S. bipinnatifida, also grows within the park.

Yellow sanicle can be found near the road to Frog Lake under the manzanitas and oaks, and along the trail from Manzanita Point to Poverty Flat. They are also common along the Corral Trail.
