Boraginaceae

Plagiobothrys nothofulvus

"On the side and pit, referring to a pit in the first known species"

"Falsely fulvus, i.e. not the related P. fulvus"

When you see this plant you will understand the reason behind its common name. The leaves are close to the ground, 2-3" across with a central flower stalk 2-4" tall.

Large areas of grassland are covered with white by this plant, especially along the Corral Trail and on the hills beyond Jackass Peak.
