This milkweed is the host plant for the monarch butterfly and their larva can often be found on the plants. They occur, but not often, in open grasslands. The area near China Hole often has some of these plants along and sometimes in the dry stream bed. The plant can be large, 2-4' tall. The flowers are small, 1/2", but are in a large cluster.
