California Wild Rose

April-June

Forested Areas

Rosaceae

Rosa californica

"Latin: ancient name"

"Of California"

The California wild rose is not as big, but surely as beautiful as the garden varieties. The plant can be 2-4' tall with 2"-wide blooms. It grows in shady forest areas, especially along streams. Soda Springs Canyon has many near the old hotel site.
