Mimulus cardinalis

"Latin: Little mimic for the comic face in the flower"

"Red like a cardinals hat"

This plant is not so much rare as limited to stream sides and even in the dry stream bed. Look in the dry river at Poverty Flat and China Hole. It is also found along and in the East Fork. The size ranges from a few inches high with a single blossom to a foot or so with many blossoms each an inch across.
