Figwort Family Foothill Penstemon April-July Rocky Ledges |
Scrophulariaceae Penstemon heterophyllus "Latin - five stamens" "Varied leaves (shape)" |
While not common, these plants are perennials and once found can be relocated year after year. A large specimen a couple of feet across grows along the road to Manzanita Point in a rock wall near the first curve from the back country gate. The flowers are fairly large, usually almost 3/4" across.
