Orobanche uniflora

"Greek: For vetch strangler - parasitic"

"Single flower"

The broomrapes are root parasites, using the host plant for food and water. These plants are parasites on pacific stonecrop. The small 1/4" flower stands on the end of a 1-2" stem above the pacific stonecrop leaf rosettes. The pacific stonecrop (Sedum spathulifolium) grow along streams, especially in the East Fork Narrows where the stream cuts through the end of Blue Ridge. A broomrape also grows on Johnny jump-ups.
