Clarkia purpurea var. quadrivulnera "Capt. Clark of Lewis & Clark Expedition" "Purple; Latin: with four wounds, for the four red spots on the petals" |
A very small flower that is not easily spotted among the grasses where it grows. The deep purple red color cup shaped flower is worth the hunt. Look in most any open grassland for a 4-6" plant with a flower between 1/4 and 1/2" wide.
