Harvest Brodiaea

Open Grasslands

Liliaceae

Brodiaea elegans

"Brodie, Scottish plantsman"

"Elegant appearance"

The harvest brodiaea is also known as elegant brodiaea, a very appropriate name. It is a late spring and early summer pleasure to find these in the yellowing grass. They bloom as the grass is dying and falling down, making them stand out as a purple dot in the yellow grass. Look for harvest brodiaea in any open grassland. The plant will be about 5-8" tall and the flower about an inch across
