Borage Family Fiddleneck March-June Open Grasslands |
Boraginaceae Amsinckia menziesii var. intermedia "William Ansinck of Germany" "A. Menzies, naturalist on Vancouver expedition; Latin: intermediate" |
The bright orange-yellow flowers of fiddle neck are a contrast to the rest of the bristly plant. Fiddle neck is not native to California. It grows well in disturbed areas like many other weeds. The bright orange flower head stands up above the grasses on a 1-2'-long stalk.
Fiddle neck is found along the road to Manzanita Point.
