February-March

Open Woodland

Hydrophyallaceae

Nemophila menziesii

"Grove loving"

"Menzies, botanist"

This pretty-colored little flower is common in the park. It was taken to England in the early 1800's where it became a prized garden plant. The 1"-wide flower is near the ground on a short stalk. Some likely places to find baby blue-eyes are Manzanita Point, the trail from Manzanita Point to Poverty Flat, and the old hotel site in Soda Springs Canyon.
