Fabaceae Lupinus bicolor "Lupus - wolf, as they were thought to rob the soil of nutrients" "Two color" |
Another name for this plant is dove lupine. There are many other kinds of lupine in the park, all recognizable by their similar flower arrangement but with varied colors, and palmate divided leaves. Miniature lupine is a small 3-4"-tall plant with a 4-6"-tall flower stalk.
Any open grassland is a good place to look for this plant, especially along the Fish Trail on Middle Ridge.
