Buttercup Family Coast Larkspur March-June Shady Areas |
Ranuculaceae Delphinium decorum ssp. decorum "Flowers resembling dolphins" "Elegant" |
There are at least three different species of larkspur in the park. Most larkspurs are blue or purple in color. The outer showy part of the flowers are actually sepals. The petals are the smaller parts in the center of the flower. The flowers stand above the grasses on a 12-18" stalk. The individual flowers are 3/4-1" wide.
Coast larkspur can be found in any shady area, especially along the upper part of the Fish Trail and along the Flat Frog Trail.
