There are two major steps; first downloading the files and saving them,
second opening the files with Waypoint+ and uploading
then to a GPS receiver.
These instructions are for the Netscape Browser. You are on your
own for other programs.
Navigate to the Road or Trail directory and you will see a list of
files. The name of the file is taken from the Road and Trail Junction
Waypoint names. The Excell spread sheet file also has a tab:
"D" that has a list of these abbreviations. Click on a file and it will
be downloaded
and opened. From "File" click on "Save As". I think it is a good
idea to save the road and trail files in different directories. Be sure
to keep the file name as this is the way to relate the track log data to
the road or trail name. Repeat this for all the track log files you want
to save.
Start Waypoint+ and select "File" -> "Open". Set the file type as
"Waypoint and Track Text files". Select and load the track log file you
want and it will be loaded into Waypoint+. You can see a list of track
logs loaded by clicking on "Track" -> "Summary". Repeat for as many track
log files as you want to upload to your GPS. When you are ready to up load,
test the connection by clicking on "GPS" -> "UTC Time" to insure you can
communicate with the GPS receiver. The comm port number will vary with
your system, probably comm1 or comm2. Set your Garmin GPS using the "Interface"
page to "Garmin to Garmin". When ready click on "GPS" -> "Upload to GPS"
-> "Track" and the track logs will be uploaded. You can also upload the
road and trail junction waypoints with changes to use waypoints instead
of track logs.
